Ndungu Joins Distance Class From Fayetteville
Distance runner Collins Ndungu has already proven both talent and resilience during his high school career in Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Collins Ndungu became the latest signing for NWACC Men's Track and Field and Cross Country for the class of 2026, as announced Tuesday by coaches Josphat Boit and Chris Weller.
Ndungu adds depth to the distance program after high levels of success with Fayetteville High School, despite recently returning from a stress fracture.
"This senior year has been kinda rough since I've been hurt," Ndungu said, "but I'm excited to go out and compete and hopefulyl show what I am capable of."
Ndungu will primarily contribute in track and field, running the 800 meters and mile race.
"I'm just excited for the different atmosphere and getting to know all my new teammates," Ndungu said, "to grow close together with them and have fun out there."
Ndungu also enters life at NWACC with longtime experience working with head coach Josphat Boit.
"I feel like Coach Boit and I have a great connection because we're family friends," Ndungu said. "It just made the transition easier, especially since it's close to home. I felt like Coach Boit would help me develop as a runner and as a person."
Ndungu adds to a lengthy 2026 class for men's track and field. The 2026 season comes to a close with Arkansas Twilight in Ndungu's hometown of Fayetteville May 8, followed by the NJCAA Division I National Championships in Hobbs, N.M. the following week.
